Thank you!

Mon, Apr 19th, 2010

We send thanks to all who helped with Breakfast with the INN Crowd.

We were thrilled with the response to this year's Breakfast with the INN Crowd. More than 300 people attended - a 50% increase over the inaugural event in 2008. Preliminary calculations indicate that we raised more than $25,000! Thank you! These funds will go toward operating expenses, to provide shelter and services to the 200+ homeless women and families who find help here each year.

St. Louis radio personality Randy Karraker hosted the morning’s program and Mary Francis Fletcher, CDP, provincial director of the Sisters of Divine Providence, welcomed our guests. A former client, Regina Market, reflected on her experience of homelessness and explained to the audience how Room at the Inn helped her on her return to self-reliance. Steve Rupp, director of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul and vice president of Missouri Right to Life, was the auctioneer.

In addition to raising money, the event was an opportunity for us to recognize and thank the 21 interfaith congregations that have partnered with Room at the Inn for more than 15 years. Those congregations are:

  • Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Ferguson
  • Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Cool Valley
  • Congregation Shaare Emeth in Creve Coeur
  • Eliot Unitarian Chapel in Kirkwood
  • First Presbyterian Church of Ferguson
  • First Presbyterian Church of St. Louis in University City
